There's no way to insure yourself against redundancy, even with the backing of a union. If the jobs not there, it's not there and that's the employers call, not the unions. Unions don't control what situations you find yourself, only advise and assist on how to deal with the situation. Especially when it comes to privately owned companies. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aside from those employees on the Broadcast t&cs, ntl don't legally have to recognise any union anyway...
