Last time I saw BT do anything to the infrastructure in this area it was to replace 'wooden' telegraph poles that appeared perfectly sound but were probably subject to some arcane BT health and safety legislation as being unable to support the weight of their trained chimps (who happen to use 'cherry pickers' when doing any overhead cabling).
