Do we?
Daily now we make new discoveries about our planet, today in news about dimming of the sun due to global warming, which has just been discovered, this could mean reduced sun light, and interupting the natural cycle of rain fall, hence drought and famine. For us to find this out about our Earth, we have had to go into space and develop and learn and see what moves out planet, we have learnt alot about our outer atmosphere, cloud density, storm behaviour and a bunch of other stuff, due to having space station, and people who go up there to do a good job for us down here, we wont find all the answers in space, but I am sure we will find enough to answer a few questions.
It is space which could bring us more life on earth, thanks to the discovery of certain forms of rays and radiation from the sun hitting Earth, again affecting weather and other forms of sea life, and the food/water chain, we have learnt possible one thing to do would be to construct large mirrors around Earth to bounce back certain forms of deadly rays.
Long sounding, far fetched but one way or the other we will go out there and explore.
Perhaps exploring will make us appreicate Earth all the more.
