What about two extra lines men? Four lines men in total two in each half. One whos job is to watch solely for offsides, the other who watches for off the ball incidents or anything the ref misses.

We could also take an idea from the NHL where because the game is so fast they have a ref in each half which makes them closer to the play. The problem is if the ref is on the edge of the d and then henry makes a break up the field the middle-aged ref has to sprint up the field trying to keep up with the young super-fit player and if there is an incident make a decision while sprinting. If you had two refs then they should be in a better position.

Also remember video refs aren't infallible, there was a big incident in the NFL a few years ago when, ever after consulting replays, the refs made the wrong decision resulting in the team losing the game and missing out on the playoffs
