If I did get spam I wouldn't just blame ntl though. They should do something of course, all ISPs should take a certain level of responsibility.

Ntl's spam problem its not an issue of keeping your account secret. The spammers can use brute force attacks on Ntls email servers to get spam through because there are so many customers with the @ntlworld.com addresses. This works because if they try a million different permutations of FIRSTNAME.SURNAME@NTLWORLD.COM then they will get some through.

The only advice is to change your email address to something less common, or change your email provider. I've always used Yahoo.co.uk for my mail and they do me proud, I hardly get any spam into Outlook, maybe 1 or 2 a week.
