Not forgetting of course that both Centrica and NTL are publicly listed companies and financial dealings of that kind have to be announced publicly. If they had been holding unofficial talks and so much as a squeak of it got out, it would have influenced the share price of one or both companies and the respective stock markets would have instructed them to make a statement.
None of this has happened, ergo this rumour is just baseless gossip.
