it must have been an investment. maybe part of some long-term plan
if centrica bought ntl out, then ntl would not be listed on the Nasdaq as NTL Incorporated (NTLI). and it would have been big news.

. maybe centrica is a shareholder of ntl, there would have been some coverage if centrica bought ntl...in fact a lot
