How are we expected to know when a new series starts or a repeat of an existing one that you want to watch or re-watch? Impossible.
If you've added a TV series to your watchlist, it will provide any new series automatically - you don't have to re-set it when a new series starts, it'll just be there.

Apart from the alerts you get with trailers on the various channels, there are TV listings magazines and your EPG to alert you to new series, which is surely how you find out about any new programme.

I think you'll find over the coming years that we have little choice in the matter - on demand is how everyone will be accessing their content.
