Maybe you should simply use the on demand watchlist for the stuff you want to view later, and let your recrdings keep reducing as you watch them. Perhaps the you will see that you don't have much use any more for recordings.
When your new box is ready, or they are about to switch you over, just make sure you have made a note of everything on your watchlist and the remaining recordings and input them all on the new device/software.
That's what I did, anyway.
