The industry's move to IP is irreversible, migration to VoIP is nearly finished and IPTV is underway. The issues are how it's done and when rather than if.

Let's hope not, but are they still manufacturing the recordable boxes? If not, these boxes are old now and, as they fail with age, a replacement streaming box may well be all that's available.

I believe that Sky Q boxes are no longer made, same as Virgin Media V6 boxes. I also think the VM TV 360 boxes are also no longer made, no point in making 360s any more, if one breaks it gets replaced by a 360 (subject to availability in the local depot) or a Stream.
