That suggestion has been around for years. The Daily Fail resurrrected it today as they are a bit lazy and were due another anti BBC 'story'.

We're going to pay one way or another. General taxation seems fair if people don't want the licence fee as its unlike other broadcasters and has a public service remit.

The problem is, the nutjobs at that place have the ear of the Government because it was founded by the nutjobs in the "Social Democratic Party" so it claims to be "Independent" but then it's founding members are/were members of a political party aimed at destroying the country!

The thing is though, there is going to be even more talk about this sort of thing next year whilst the BBC try to get as much money as possible from people.

Personally I would rather see the BBC ask people to choose if they want to pay for the BBC's services or not via a subscription like Netflix etc but we all know they won't because their funding would drop by more than 50% overnight.

The trying to control information part will not win any party votes as well as the electorate and I have never seen a politician that is not thinking about the next election

They are already doing it, the plans are in place and they are pushing it through.

It's not just in the UK either, Australia currently ran by the Labour Party have just done the same thing or pushing it through and using the "Childrens Safety" thing to do it.

The Government will control what is reported, how it's reported and when it's reported, what you can see and what you can't by making companies only show what they approve.

So the TV Tax will also be used to fund Government Propaganda broadcasts (already is according to many) and to stop the opposition from being heard or seen.
