In any case, this is just a blatant attempt by Labour to prevent the newcomer that is Reform UK from competing on the same footing as them. I think most people can see through this.

You talk as if only Reform UK has this sort of problem! It happens a lot to other parties, but they don’t get the same kind of publicity as Reform get, which is then used to try to make them sound irrelevant.

Reform UK’s biggest donor, Christopher Harborne, a cryptocurrency billionaire based in Thailand, has criticised the proposed £100,000 cap, claiming he was “the reason” for the policy. He said he would legally challenge any ban on foreign donations over £100,000.

Harborne, 63, who moved from Britain to Thailand in the 1990s and took citizenship there in 2011, has donated £15 million to Reform since 2025 while living abroad. He flew back to the UK to restore his name to the electoral roll in Hampshire in June.

Another Reform donor, Ben Delo, who is also a cryptocurrency billionaire, has given £4 million to the party this year. Delo, 42, had been living in Hong Kong until this year but said in April that he was moving back to the UK to circumvent the cap on donations from Britons living abroad.
