Good news for Old Boy from the PM today.
Quote:
Andy Burnham has hinted he will look again at Sir Keir Starmer’s plans to switch off terrestrial TV.
Mr Burnham was asked whether he would ditch proposals included in a green paper published under Sir Keir that would switch off terrestrial free-to-view television in 2034.
He replied: “I am concerned about those plans too, I know some of my constituents in Makerfield rely on Freeview. There is perhaps an opportunity to look at this as part of the BBC Charter renewal process.
“I can’t give a final answer today... Let me have a look at it.”
