How would you make it remote control friendly? I don't really want to mess around with a keyboard mouse combo.
you can buy USB remote controls or you could even run it using your phone or a tablet. First PC remote control I had was likely pre 2010 I would choose a bluetooth one if one exists

I got to say are you crazy? searching media sites having to type stuff in with a remote control is the most tedious pain in the rectum ever. The Logitech k400 series keyboards with a touch pad is a dream for a media centre

The more I am thinking the more options there are. How about voice operation ?
