As TiVo is a recording concept and, presumably, their TV's won't be able to record, do you know what difference getting a TiVo powered TV would be? Depending on what they do I may well take up your suggestion.
It won't be that most existing customers want to keep the TiVo features, it's that most people can't be bothered, don't care, or are resistant to change. A very common natural behaviour is to pushback about new ideas or systems.

Remember how long and difficult the digital terrestrial switchover was? In the end the operator has no choice but to force people.
