Sounds to me like nothing more than a poor connection in the aerial socket if it’s Freeview. Try a different fly lead between TV and aerial wall socket, and check the condition of the connections. Is the aerial lead loose in the back of the TV?

The Smart element of the TV is irrelevant if it’s a TV signal reception issue.
