It's all probably changed now (computers lol ) but years ago I think turning the engine off going down hill - or knocking it into neutral - was an offence  |
In late 70's we bought an old Saab 96 which was an interesting car to drive as a learner. If I took my foot off the accelerator going down hill it coasted until I put my foot back to re-engage the engine. We only had it for a couple of years and then thankfully, because we had a new baby, we traded it in for a 5 door mk3 Ford Escort.
