Manchester seems to be an attractive destination for businesses and its airport and trams are efficient and growing. Burnham seems effective at getting cash out of central government but what would he do when in power? He would be a better communicator and be more likeable than Starmer but there's far more to the job than that.
Apart from the bit I've highlighted, it seems you agree with me

As a Brexiteer, economic growth is the imperative, making best use of our sovereignty, which has to come first in order to do the other.

Nobody has put up numbers, jhow, when etc of how being close to the EU will provide economic growth. My understanding is that our exports to the EU have fallen from 47% to 41% since Brexit. So all we have to do is make that 6% up elsewhere through having stuff to sell and good salesmen.
