Hitler, specifically in this case, because the victims are Jews. Surely you can see the parallel. A great many Germans in the 1930s had no particular animosity towards Jews and went along with it because it was far easier to pile on to a minority than to defend them. But sure, it doesn’t have to be Hitler - Jews have had a particular problem with religious/ethnic persecution in Europe for centuries. That’s why ‘antisemitism’ has its own name. It’s supremely ugly wherever such pogroms flare up, and it’s sickening that it should be happening here and now.
