You say that because you prefer all the old stuff. While there were some good programmes in previous times that stand out to me, even in the 1960s - Danger Man, Dr Who (before it deteriorated into farce), Thank Your Lucky Stars, Duchess of Duke Street, etc, I also remember night after night when there was nothing on worth watching. When BBC2 launched, there was nothing much on that channel that we would want to watch - it was quite stuffy when it first came out, and all those occasions when sport could be on all three channels at the same time continue to annoy me to this day!

There was a period into digital TV when there really was a good choice. So many good dramas I struggled to keep pace. There were some very watchable programmes on Sky 1, 2 and 3, and even channels like 5 USA, Fox, etc carried some worthwhile dramas.

These days, we have even more choice of content, but this is now available mainly on the streaming services. Some good originals get put out on BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Channel 4 - and I note that Channel 5 is getting into this now as well. As for Sky, I’m sorry, but their heavy reliance on US content has put them on the back foot with the studios tending now to have their best content sent online. We have a few Sky Originals, but they will have to do much better in terms of quantity and quality to retain viewers. I haven’t watched anything on Sky lately apart from ‘The Last of Us’, so I will consider very seriously at the end of my existing contract whether to continue my subscription to their content. I have already ditched Sky Cinema.

I find channel hopping to be the most frustrating way to find content.

im loving sky atlantic. great set of boxsets
You are correct, but most of them have aired over the last decade. There is very little that is both new and worth watching.

I agree. Except I would say that the first season of Gangs of London was very good. Season 2, with some different characters, was a disappointment.

Chernobyl was also good.
