Seriously, it's a matter of perception. It seems only yesterday I was staying up two nights in a row to watch Apollo 11...and I was 3 1/2. Where did the last 56+ years go?
Or that time when I was driving a Reach truck and made a rookie mistake: I didn't level my forks when I started work (ironically its last user had done exactly what you should do: point forks down, then lower them until the heels are just touching the floor. I just forgot to level them). Here's me blithely picking up a load from a 1st level shelf. The forks scraped against the shelf girders and the shelf collapsed on either side as the girders twisted out of their supports. As this was occurring, time slowed to a crawl and I had time to think: "Oh, no, this is not happening"...because I wished it weren't.
Things speeded up after that.
Or when I got caught in the cyclists' death trap, a.k.a. the road outside Rochdale Train Station. There are tram tracks. My front wheel got caught in one. I had time to think, "Oh, you prat!" before I went a**e-over-t*t over the handlebars, adding a scar to my collection and soft tissue damage.
