Re: President Trump 2.0

Quote:
Delcy Rodriguez
Nicolas Maduro's own vice president, finance and oil minister has been tapped to replace him as president, according to Trump.

"She's essentially willing to do what we think is necessary to make Venezuela great again," Trump said.

However, in a video address, Rodriguez struck a different tone - insisting Maduro is the "only" leader and demanding his release.

Venezuela's Supreme Court ordered yesterday that Rodriguez assume the role of acting president of the country.

The court ruling said she would assume "the office of President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in order to guarantee administrative continuity and the comprehensive defence of the nation".

The ruling also said the court will debate the matter to "determine the applicable legal framework to guarantee the continuity of the state, the administration of government, and the defence of sovereignty in the face of the forced absence of the president of the republic".

Edmundo Gonzalez
The 76-year-old is Venezuela's recognised president-elect, according to the US previously.

French President Emmanuel Macron name-dropped Gonzalez as the person to "swiftly ensure" Venezuela's democratic transition after Maduro's capture.

Then relatively unknown, Gonzalez had taken Machado's place as opposition presidential candidate in 2024.

Officially, Maduro won a third six-year term, but after manipulation claims, the US recognised Gonzalez as president-elect.

European countries were more cautious, as most didn't officially recognise Gonzalez, instead merely refusing to recognise Maduro's claimed victory.

Gonzalez received asylum in Spain in 2024, after an arrest warrant was issued for him in Venezuela.

There's more in that post on SkyNews. The Nobel peace prize winner "doesn't have the support" according to Trump. And interim government legislation was changed in 2023.

This is going to make for a great based on a true story film.

Our governance is innocent until proven guilty. Should many slip through the cracks of the system in Venezuela you'd imagine a new lease of life but living a double life goes only so far. I can't only picture an ant farm being told to live a different way. It would become manic but then we do live a chaotic life
