Mmm. But my tablet hasn't been anywhere. OTOH, the room temp has changed as I've used the heating...

Anyway, I changed my mind and put it on charge at 17%. It's now up to 99% with no problems. Seems perfectly fine now. But this is why I usually leave the charger in place even when fully charged so the USB socket (USB-C, in fact) is filled and hence protected.

But I will keep an eye on it.
