Hive (and I assume similar) will work fine internally, you just wont be able to control them from outside your home unless you have a fixed internet connection.

I do, but until recently I could probably count on one hand the number of times (in 10+ years) that I've connected to it from outside the home, I just left it running on its schedule. Since Jan this year I have run a slightly different system involving one of my servers, switchbot, and Alexa routines, so now I do need the connectivity.
