Traditionally a Jew is a member of the tribe of Judah but was extended to cover all the tribes of Israel at the Babylonian exile. But the term can be used for a follower of the Jewish faith. Many who are racially Jews do not follow the Jewish faith and there are those who follow the faith who are not racially Jewish.
And the sign to identify Jewish men is found somewhat lower than the nose!
