What they may quite like is a rash response from one of the Baltics that makes it ineligible for Art.5 assistance. If it looks like Estonia fired first, against a Russian plane ‘lost’ due to Ukrainian GPS jamming, there are Nato members that would resist demands to come to Estonia’s defence. That gives Russia an opening to cross the border there.
