We recently had a home inspection to check that it is all "up to code".

The bathroom fan has been sealed over with plastic since we arrived here in 2001. The outside of the vent had been blown off, and, despite being reported many times, the council don't give a toss, reportedly because "it's an electrician's job, and they won't climb a ladder to replace it".
