But Trump doesn't do "market style deals", because he believes in zero-sum deals (if he wins, someone has to lose, and be seen to lose) - that's not how international trading markets works.
Trump not only has to be seen to be winning, he wants to show (and announce) that others lose, showing that he is the best, and
knows more than anyone else (you know, like ISIS, the courts, lawsuits, the visa system, trade, the US Government system, renewable energy, taxes, debt, the economy, drones, technology, drone technology, etc.)
Also, as we have seen recently, trying to make a deal with Trump depends on who he speaks to last, so can change day to day - he can't be trusted to keep his word (and at this time, Trump is the US Government - his motto appears to be "
l'état, c'est moi*").
*Which is quite ironic because around 250 years ago, the US revolted against a King, because of things like
-
He has refused his Assent to Laws
- He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.
- He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance
- For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:
- For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences
- He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us
