They insisted from the start that this would be "a faithful adaptation of the books", and yet before it even kicks off, they have already broken this promise.
Professor Snape is described (in the books) as having "a sallow complexion", i.e. yellowish or pale - clearly not Paapa Essiedu.
So yes, this appears to be inclusion/woke/race-swapping (whatever you want to call it) simply for the sake of it.
