I agree. The lack of Infrastructure planning & investment over the last number of years is criminal. Of course, the reason why this did not happen is the need to efficiently spend a lot of public money (for a useful purpose) which was contrary to the philosophy and/or ability of the last party in power - see HS2 as an example
We just don't do long term planning and when we do, we cock it up. Have a look at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sizewe..._power_station for an example. Sizewell was chosen as a site to build a new reactor in 2010!
Construction started in 2024 and will take 9 to 12 years
