The truth is, I’m pretty down at the thought of what Trump is likely to do over the next 4 years so I’m euphoric at getting a win on day one. Major social shifts like this do tend to cross the Atlantic and should have an effect on the policy discourse here.
Yes, I agree, finding ways to deal compassionately with those who have undergone surgical intervention is going to be difficult going forward. We can at least give thanks to Hilary Cass for putting the brakes on activist attempts to exascerbate that problem. Nobody should be in any doubt that the medicalisation of psychological distress in children and teenagers has been a key plank of trans activism. Creating a class of young adults who have undergone such intervention is a useful Trojan horse.
