I have tinnitus in both ears, but it's more like white noise rather than high pitched. I suspect it was caused by too much loud music in my younger days. It doesn't really bother me but it's there all the time.
If you've had it many years, penicillin isn't going to cure it. You won't have had an ear infection that long.
