Re: Panic attacks and chest pain

Hi Halcyon. You could try the 4-7-8 breathing exercise.
  1. Find somewhere comfortable to sit and if you can close your eyes.
  2. Breathe in through your nose to the count of four.
  3. Hold the breath to the count of seven.
  4. Exhale through your mouth to the count of eight.

Concentrate hard on the counting and don't allow your thoughts to wander.

It's quite a well used exercise for anxiety and panic attacks, it can also help if you're finding it difficult to sleep.

The exercise did work for my son who was going through a very difficult time. It probably won't stop the attacks happening but it could give you control of how much they effect you and give you a chance to start to control them before they get so scary. <<<hugs>>> Jo.
