One would have to imagine that prior to the announcement on July 20, a lot of money would have been put forward in terms of fulfilling contracts for the next 12 months. We know for certain that the SPFL received its money for the Viaplay Cup.

The Scottish Cup and Coppa Italia rights expire next summer, so they'll let them naturally end. My thinking was that the announcement left it too late for Viaplay to try to sell on La Liga to someone else (rights run until summer 2025). They do have a sublicencing deal with ITV for 10 live games per season (non-exclusively), so there could be scope of that increasing if ITV had interest.

They'll stumble on until:

1) The entire Viaplay UK entity is bought out by someone else
2) They manage to sell on every sports contract they have to someone else
3) They naturally let rights expire and don't renew

Their target to be out of the UK business is 2024, but it could mean summer 2024 or end of 2024.
