Anyway I replaced it with a Mondeo 2.2 TDCI Titanium X Diesel. First time I’ve ever owned a diesel and yesterday I took it to pick my son up so had a good long drive. Really impressed with it so far, it has quite a few gadgets the Beemer didn’t have and although it’s 20 BHP less you wouldn’t know it. Still trying to figure out what a lots of the gadgets do…

One of the best thing is the crazy boot space. In the Beemer I’d really struggle to get my son’s bike in it, most of the time I couldn’t get it in so it would have to go on the back seat with the roof down.

With the Mondeo it fits right in with loads of space to spare.

Happy Russ now…
I like my 16 plate Mondeo estate except for the headlights that are awful. And you have to take the front of the car off to change the bulbs. If there were an easy and legal way to upgrade that didn't cost the earth I would. Reluctant to try the brighter bulbs as they have shorter life and as I said, changing headlight bulb is not a side of the road job. My old Escort was about right, couple of clips, pull the bulb out, change, push back in and tighten clips.
Also the 16 plate just missed the upgrade to Sync3 on the audio platform but Sync2 is OK.
