Same here. There's one thing I regret most: in 1985 I got an unsolicited offer for a Sheffield Polytechnic course. It offered everything I was interested in, and I'd have had an HND just when the IT industry was screaming for them.
But I was unsure of the grant situation, and we only got part of a grant - can't remember what it was for - because of my dad's earnings, so I did nothing. 4 years later, though, I discovered HND grants were mandatory - I should've taken the offer. I don't know where I'd be now. I've been kicking myself ever since.
Oh well.
