Whether Starmer should have pre-judged the inquiry into Johnson or not is a trivial matter by comparison. It was clear political opportunism, and left him open to accusations of hypocrisy, but not only is it neither life nor death it's also not a crime. If we want to hold our politicians to a higher standard than that so be it - but there's plenty on the Government benches that can be accused very easily.
