The Russian high command is in a difficult position and I don't expect them to do anything in regards to Ukraine but if Putin escalates elsewhere after Ukraine they might not have the option of doing nothing. The Russian military is not united behind Putin and as much as he'd like to be rid of some senior officer's their competence and loyalty from the rank's doesn't allow him to.
