Yes, but that’s a conscious decision made, egged on by the content makers who want to limit our ability to time-shift viewing to maximise their profits. It’s nothing to do with the technology. I think it’s only a matter of time before we find that everything we have recorded on our Sky or Virgin boxes is deleted after 90 days.

I would far rather we could take out a subscription and watch any programme we liked from the cloud. We could be permitted a reasonable amount of content per month, which would be dependent on how new the content was.

I don’t appreciate being pressured to watch programmes from a series within a strict time-frame. We are not all binge watchers and some of us have lives beyond the TV screen.
