I’ve always suspected Biden only ever intended to serve one term, with the party pushing for its primaries to crown Kamala Harris as his successor. If he has a good run, and endorses her, it would be hard for anyone to seriously contest it. Of course it’s always possible for him to voluntarily resign during his term, perhaps in his third year, so Harris contests the 2024 election as the incumbent.
