Generalisation is a time-honoured means of avoiding an issue. Corbyn is particularly famous for body-swerving requests for him to engage in specifics by condemning 'all forms of' something. As Hugh has pointed out ... what's your first instinct, when you ask someone if they agree that 'black lives matter', and they respond 'all lives matter'? Do you tend to think them more likely, or less likely, to be racist - or, at the very least, to have completely failed to understand the problem?
