There's no point in him waiting unless he's planning to build an entirely new PC, the nVME drive he's looking at is already at the threshold of what PCI-Express Gen3 m.2 can do.
PCI-Express gen4 can go twice as fast, in line with what the PS5's drive can do (to an extent - the PS5 also has onboard hardware for dedicated texture decompression but that's another story) and unless his machine is a really recent AMD machine, he'll be on gen 3.
