Win10 all files read only

My old PC received the email that my shiny new one was to arrive the next day..

It froze, and all efforts to get it to boot have failed so far.

So byebye Vista on a 2008 PC.

So the shiny new Win 10 PC booted and all was well. Lots of old 16 bit programs changed to 64 bit ones.

All was OK until last evening when an update ran.

Now ALL my files and folders are READ ONLY.

I've done all the usual stuff including setting 100% permissions for all users, etc.

I've "Taken Ownership" of everything.

But they always revert to READ ONLY.

The net is full of "fixes" that haven't worked so far, and all blame an update for the problem.

Any ideas or links to other "fixes"?
