I rang up for a replacement a couple of years ago and got VM overseas, in the middle of a party by the sound of it, took a long time to explain and arrange for such an apparently simple task.

You haven't said what the problem is with your current controller. For what it's worth both my controllers have periodically had the issue where some keys either stop sending commands or the commands aren't interpreted properly. I found taking the batteries out and holding down the remote power button for several seconds would reset the controller and get it working.
