The agricultural committee of the European Parliament has bizarre plans to block vegetarian and vegan food products bearing the names of meat-related terms and names “exclusively for edible parts of the animals”. This includes veggie burgers and veggie sausages, which have somehow managed to become confusing for EU legislators. Steaks, sausages, escalope and burgers are all set for protected status after the committee voted 80 percent in favour of the changes.
