Obviously scientists should be questioned but that is done so with further science. Except you are disregarding two things. Firstly, scientists often disagree amongst themselves. Secondly, it was Pat Michaels who criticised the hockey stick graph. He was a climatologist, not a pleb.

You really shouldn't be so gullible as to believe everything scientists come up with. They have been wrong so many times before.
