If you wrote to a Minister, the request for information would have been handled by a junior Aide, who would have asked for the information from the relevant department, and then the Aide would have replied to you with the information (on behalf of the Minister and the Department). If you did it through their Constituency Office, just substitute "Researcher" for "junior Aide"..,.
