Re: Do AVR's Inevitably Delay Audio?

This is with 2 channel PCM stereo. The AVR lipsync delay is set to zero, and all processing turned off.

Is it the case that Yamaha has decided that all UHD TV's must take at least 68ms to display video, and that therefore a minimum delay of that size is 'baked in'? i.e. "zero" delay is really "68ms"?

Does anybody know of an AVR (or another form of HDMI Dolby-capable decoder) which is able to output audio with zero delay?

(I have also posted this enquiry on avforums)

Thanks for any help!
The two I have had (an Onkyo H390 and the replacement Denon X2400H) both needed audio delay added to get the correct lip sync from the Tivo, Fire TV and Apple TV. For the Denon, I have added ~ 200ms on each of the HDMI inputs. These are then connected via the HDMI Out -> HDMI ARC input on the TV (Sony XF90).

When I connected the TV using optical to the (old) AVR, there was no delay ...
