At a £125 million a month a Premier League streaming subscription package priced at £20 a month would require more than 6 million people taking it and that's just to recoup what Sky and BT currently pay for the rights.

As Raider999 has also correctly said the Premier League would also then have massive costs such as pundits , dealing with subscriptions , distribution costs , bandwith , marketing the list goes on.
I believe that Sky and BT have about that number of viewers for the PL channels now, but as you say, those subscribers do not necessarily want the footie.

However, as explained a while ago, there are plenty of marketing angles available that neither Sky nor BT have exploited yet, which would increase the amount of revenue it is possible to collect.
