Yep, and boy do we like to get bitten.
We (and the Americans) are very good at involving ourselves in Political & Religious 'wars' that have been waged for hundreds of years. Most of the time these idealistic confrontations are ingrained in the very heart and culture of the people involved. You won't stop them unless you either wipe them out or manage to change their beliefs . . . good luck with the latter
